Shoog McDaniel is a queer, fat, freak raised in the holy swamps of Florida. Through the lens of their camera, they bear witness to the complex experiences of gender and fatness found in surrounding flora and fauna and in the faces and folds of friends and community. Their work holds gently and fiercely the vastness of nature and the intimacy of intersecting identities. Abstracting queer fat bodies alongside textures and colors of landscape, Shoog highlights the sameness, vulnerability, resilience, and deep communion that exists between them, forcing the viewer to challenge perceptions of beauty within a conformist and critical society. Shoog’s photography captures the undeniable beauty and naturalness of fatness and queerness- calling for deep love, joy, and natural belonging in every corner, crest, and roll of the wildness of the world.

Heather Raquel Phillips (she/they) is an interdisciplinary artist, independent curator and educator living and working in Philadelphia.
I create critical and celebratory disruptions within a framework that welcomes conversations about power, sexuality, deviance, freedom, failure and desire. DIY aesthetics inform the photography, video, objects & Tex(T)iles* through the use of dark humor and camp techniques. Fiction and fact cavort to build futuristic analog utopias, where insults and stereotypes are appropriated and the abject are embraced.
These explorations give way to a nuanced expression of self. They likewise interrogate canonical precepts, while shining light on my communities expressing survival, liberation and love. It’s as grand as resistance. It’s as simple as authenticity.

cw: brief mention of sexual trauma
“Sometimes I struggle to remain present or connect during sexual and intimate moments with others as a result of sexual trauma. I have found that the baseline that I can always return to when connection with others is difficult is my erotic relationship to myself. Although that comes with its own challenges, it is incredibly sacred and precious to me. My favorite erotic moments with myself are when I am dancing in the mirror and performing for my own gaze. I wanted to invite others to join me in this personal moment. I invite you to admire yourself in the reflection of the screen while my own image dances with you. Sway with the music if you feel so inclined.”
Squiggles and Sluts is a queer and trans multi-media artist and sex worker. Their work aims to destigmatize sexualized work, reject shame, and celebrate life and sexuality.
