Meat

Mixed media, 17 x 25", 2021

Each of these weavings is made from clothing and jewelry worn by me and other queer and trans people close to me, which I see as a celebration of queer people’s resilience, and a way to grieve the past while making a new future.

Plumes of Colors

Ink stencil on jigsaw puzzle, 22 x 18", 2021

We can always walk with our heads up, because we’re so much more than what others see us as, or want us to be.

I've Always Called Myself a Female Impersonator

Oil on canvas, 24 x 18", 2021

Honorable Mention Award

As a trans-masculine person, dressing in drag helps me to embrace my femininity in a more comfortable and performative way. This piece is messy and frantic, painted in a dysphoric state, with my face covered and underpainting visible to represent the fact that I’m still learning how to feel complete and love myself.

Baisez-moi (Kiss me)

Graphite, ink on paper, 8.5 x 11", 2021

If I work hard enough within your Realm - I may even glimpse Eternity and gain immortality through you (Art). It is what you will leave behind for others to look at and meld with, that gains for this artist a beautiful kind of immortality.

A Protective House for Queen Shania

Mixed media, 25 x 18.5", 2017

To pay homage to the messy, confounding path that led me to the queer community. My work looks to my personal experience of overcoming odds, and we have long used humor and irreverence to not only acknowledge that pain, but to move beyond it.

Digital photograph, 36 x 27" framed, 2021

My photographs are a digitally manipulated exploration of color, movement and depth. They evoke an experimental style. It’s my interpretation of the post impressionist and surrealist movements.

Happy Dream With You

Acrylic, spray paint on canvas, 30 x 24", 2021

This complicated blurring of my past self, current self, and dream self has manifested in colorful and blurring spaces that create a personal expression of identity and hope. Many people have forged their own self by following an often difficult path and not simply falling in line with expectations.

Micknnie Mouse

Inkjet print, 18 x 12", 2020

Being queer has permeated everything I’ve done in my wonderful, unconventional life. I often use humor to attempt to help people to see the issues that affect us all — including gender, sex and sexuality — from new perspectives.
